He studied guitar at the Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava with prof. Jozef Zsapka, completed his doctoral studies with a dissertation at the Department of Music Education of the Faculty of Music of the Charles University. He attended master classes with prominent personalities of guitar art (A. Carlevaro, L. Brouwer, J. Duarte, M. Mysliveček, etc.), won several awards at competitions at home and abroad (e.g. at Radio France in Paris).
From 1995 to 2010 he was a member of the Bratislava Guitar Quartet, with which he gave concerts at the most important European festivals. His playing can be heard on the CDs Musica Academica (Slovart Records), Bratislava Guitar Quartet (Akcent) and Šeban - Godár - Breiner - Kolkovič (Hevhetia). After limiting his concert activities (due to health reasons), since 2010 he has been devoted mainly to teaching and lecturing.
Since 1989 he has been teaching at a primary art school in Bratislava, since 1995 he has been an external lecturer at the Private Conservatory of Dezider Kardoš. Since 2011 he has been teaching guitar at the Department of Music Education of the Comenius University in Bratislava. In 2012 - 2013 he was the head of the group of string instruments for the creation of the State Educational Programme for Elementary Schools.
He is a co-organizer of the J. K. Mertz, serves on juries of Slovak and international competitions.
