Karol Samuelčík was born in 1991, in Banská Bystrica (Slovakia), where he attended the Primary Arts School as a pupil of Zuzana Meleková. After the years at the Žilina Conservatory (Ján Labant) he became a student of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava in the class of Jozef Zsapka. He has graduated with the highest honours, the Prize of the Rector, in 2016. He boosted his musical progress spending few months in Spain where he studied with famous Margarita Escarpa. At present he is a student of the full-time postgraduate study at the Bratislava Academy (J. Zsapka).

Karol has performed in the numerous cities in Slovakia (Bratislava: J. K. Mertz International Guitar Festival, Sunday Matinée; Nitra: Cithara Aediculae; Prešov: Prešov Musical Spring; Banská Bystrica, Žilina,...) and abroad (Spain, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Hungary, Greece, Great Britain, China, Hong Kong...). In 2019 he realized his debut tour in South America – Buenos Aires (Argentine), Montevideo (Uruguay), Santiago, Temuco (Chile) and Porto Alegre (Brazil). As a soloist he has performed with the Slovak Philharmonic, the Slovak State Philharmonic Košice, Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina, Cappella Istropolitana, Hong Kong Metropolitan Pop Orchestra and with the string ensemble Mucha Quartet. He has attended a lot of international guitar festivals and participated in masterclasses led by such great artists like Leo Brouwer, Sergio Assad, Pavel Steidl, Carlo Domeniconi, Marco Socías, Raphaella Smits, Marcin Dylla, Álvaro Pierri, Carlo Marchione, Roland Dyens and others.

Karol gained 1st prize at the J. K. Mertz International Guitar Competition 2012, The Slovak Conservatories Students Competition 2009, International Guitar Competition of Ivan Balla in Dolný Kubín 2009, Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship Program 2012/2013, Thailand International Guitar Competition 2016. In 2013 he recieved the prize for the best performance of an Italian piece at the international competition in Udine (Italy). In 2015 he became one of the laureates at Forum Gitarre Wien. He was awarded the Student Personality of Slovakia in 2016/2017 in the category of Culture and Arts.

In 2016, he recorded his debut CD with compositions by Isaac Albéniz, Johann Sebastian Bach and Vicente Asencio for Diskant label. From 2013 he has been a member of the organization team of J. K. Mertz Festival in Bratislava. He is a promise of a strong artistic personality in Slovakia and abroad.

Karol is playing the Masaki Sakurai guitar, model Maestro.
