Martin Krajčo

Martin Krajčo (1977) graduated from the Conservatoire and the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava where studied under Jozef Zsapka. He participated in master courses with numerous noted padagogues (Costas Cotsiolis, Leo Brouwer, Álex Garrobé, Hubert Käppel, Zoran Dukić, Jorgos Panetsos, Albert Walter Salina, Luise Walker...). He was awarded several prizes at Slovak and International competitons (Aix en Provence, Banská Bystrica, Bratislava, Kutná Hora, Sernancelhe, Vienna). He played at many national and international festivals (Banská Štiavnica, Bardejov, Bratislava, Encs, Kutná Hora, Mikulov, Nitra, Sernancelhe, Žilina...) and at concerts (Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Portugal, Austria).

As soloist he played with prominent orchestras such as Archi di Slovakia, Capella Istropolitana, Chamber Soloist, Orquesta Clássica de Centro, Chamber Orchestra Žilina. As chamber musician he cooperated with numerous noted instrumentalists such as Emily van Evera, Andrea Dudášová, Sefika Kutluer, Eugen Prochác, Ján Slávik, Moyzes Quartet, Bratislava String Quartet.

In 1997 he became a member of the national and international reputable ensemble Bratislava Guitar Quartet which performed at concerts and festivals not only in all Slovakia but nearly in all European countries an their metropolis (Belgrade, Bratislava, Madrid, Paris, Prague, Vienna) and premiéred compositions of Slovak composers (Peter Breiner, Vladimír Godár, Ladislav Kupkovič).

Approximately since the year 2002 has been studying the repertoire of Bratislava´s native Kasper Mertz. At the occasion of the 200th anniversary of this composer´s birth he has recorded a CD Kaspar Joseph Mertz: Guitar Music (Diskant 2006) for one and two guitars in cooperation with his wife Radka Krajčová. This CD has received very positive reviews not only at home but also in the US journal American Record Guide (July - August 2007).

Besides performing at concerts he teaches at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava.
