
Matúš Šimko (tenor) has established himself as a versatile concert singer performing abroad and in Slovakia.
This season, he performed at the premiere of a symphony Matka by L. Borzík (Slovak Philharmonic), at the Oprheus Britannicus concert (Solamente Naturali), with the Cappella Mariana ensemble at the Oude Muziek Utrecht and Musica Sacra Maastricht festivals, and with Le Nuove Musiche at the Bratislava Music Festival. He has also collaborated with ensembles such as Freund(t)-Ensemble (Klosterneuburg), Kammerorchester Accento (Knittenfeld), Czech Virtuosi, Bach-Collegium Praha, Collegium 1704, Musica Aeterna, and the ZOE Chamber Orchestra. As a member of the AD FONTES ensemble, he took part in the recording of the CD Sacred Music in Slovakia from Sources of the 11th–17th Centuries, which won the Radio_Head Awards 2025 in the Recording of the Year – Classical Music category.
Last season, he made his debut as a soloist in F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Symphony Lobgesang (Cappella Istropolitana) and in J. S. Bach’s cantatas at the Thüringer Bachwochen (Collegium 1704) and the St. Wenceslas Music Festival (Collegium 1704), in Graz and Klosterneuburg (Fre-und(t)-Ensemble). He premiered works for tenor and orchestra by Slovak composers M. Pastírik and A. Havran under the direction of Adrián Kokoš (Slovak Sinfonietta / Dom umenia Fatra). With the Czech Ensemble Baroque, he recorded the CD Tůma Vesperae. He premiered arias from the archives of the parish church in Kežmarok by J. A. Hasse, C. Monza, and F. X. Budinský (Solamente Naturali).
